Jen is originally from Minnesota, and moved to Virginia Beach in 2006 to attend Virginia Wesleyan College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies in 2010. Jen graduated from the Blue Ridge Community College Veterinary Technician program in 2015 and became a member of the Virginia Association for Licensed Veterinary Technicians. Jen keeps busy spending time with her family. They enjoy running, going for walks, and playing at the park.
Tara is a Virginia Beach native, born in raised in the Resort City. Her professional life was spent mostly in law enforcement, but her passion has always been human service, and she has spent several years working for several non-profits as a Business Manager, Accountant, and Controller. This passion to give back has led her to Princess Anne. She is married with two children and shares her home with three rescue cats: King Leonidas of Sparta , Walter White, and Foot. In her off time, Tara enjoys traveling, concerts, and cooking. She recently retired from playing roller derby under the name Grenade, #808.
Licensed Veterinary Technicians
Melissa joins PAVH all the way from Denver, Colorado. She found her way to Hampton Roads during her service in the United States Navy. She attended the Bel Rea Institute of Animal Technology and received her License in 2017. Melissa is married to Andrew, a Navy welder, and has an amazing six year old son. She shares her home with her pets Walter the huge mutt, Trixie the tuxedo kitty, and Ralph the white poof kitty. In her spare time, Melissa plays the guitar, loves hockey, tacos, margaritas, traveling, and concerts.
Brit was born in New Jersey and raised in Virginia Beach. She graduated from Kellam High School in 2009. When not caring for animals at Princess Anne Veterinary Hospital, Brit enjoys spending time with her husband and two rescue, mixed-breed dogs Captain and Maggie. She likes cooking, hiking, camping, serving as a youth leader at her church, and helping with her mom’s Senior Girl Scout troop.
Laurie was born and raised in Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia Beach with her husband in June 2016. She has a mixed lab named Toby, a Boston Terrier named Skully, and a cat named Crook. Her favorite hospital resident is our goat, George.
Kayla is originally from Virginia Beach and like many of our staff, a Kellam High School graduate. She shares her home with Rocky the Shiba Inu, and Moose the Aussie Retriever. Kayla enjoys the beach, reading and writing, hiking, and wood working.
Patient Care Specialists
Lisa is a Virginia Beach native and enjoys going to the beach, gardening, and being outdoors. You may see her cat, Sarabi, hanging out at the front desk from time to time. Her other pets include Sally the turtle, who she’s had since her childhood, Lola the gecko, and several fish tanks and ponds. Lisa spends a lot of time outside of work watching other people’s pets while their owners are away from home.
Chelsea was born and raised in Kentucky and recently moved to Virginia Beach. She is engaged and the proud mom of Binx and Miss Cleo, both rescue kittens. In her spare time, Chelsea loves reading and watching Netflix.
Sophia Renee, aka Sophie has been our kitty mascot since 2014 after her last career as a housecat did not work out. She has had no problem fitting in here at Princess Anne and she is loved by our staff and clients alike. Sophia has been a model for feline weight loss; she has lost over 5 pounds since joining us! Like any savvy feline, Sophia has her own Twitter account. Her favorite hobbies include bird watching, chasing treats, catching bugs, napping, and visits from her fans. Don’t miss her at your next visit curled up in her bed by the window!
